SMEs can enter new key markets, access grants and contracts with the public administration, increase business with large companies, get ahead of national and European Union regulations and increase sales through responsible consumption.
Involving and raising awareness among micro-enterprises and SMEs in fulfilling the 2030 agenda through the 17 sustainable development goals is fundamental. Globally, small and medium-sized enterprises constitute over 95% of all companies, represent 52% of the world’s GDP and employ between 60% and 70% of the population. In Spain, they represent 99.98% of the business fabric, constitute 63% of GDP and create 74% of the country's employment.

The Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO) and the Spanish Global Compact Network want to involve Spanish SMEs in their alignment with the SDGs, thus supporting the Spanish Government in achieving the targets of Agenda 2030.
